Safety considerations
For safety and stability, one or both feet of the user should always be on the base of the stand when a horse's foot is in the cradle. Do not leave a horse with its foot in the crade unattended! Hoofjack™ is only for use on horses that have been trained to submit their hoof to the handler. Working with and around horses may be hazardous. Equine Innovations, Inc. is not responsible for damages that may occur due to improper use of this product.

How to use Hoofjack™
Cradle height adjustment
With Hoofjack™ on level ground, stand on base of Hoofjack™.
With tension knob loose, rotate cradle head in a corkscrew fashion while pulling up or down.
Ideally, it is recommended that the cradle height be at the same height as the user's knee. This will allow the user to place their knee against the fetlock, stabilizing the horse's foot in the cradle. Slight pressure may need to be applied againt the fetlock to prevent the horse from removing its foot from the cradle.
Consideration must also be given to the comfort of the horse. For optimal comfort when working with a front foot, the horse's cannon bone should be parallel to the ground when its foot is in the cradle. It may be necessary to raise the height of the cradle when working with a hind leg.
