This wild horse cadaver hoof belongs to Pete Ramey. Half of the hoof capsule has been removed, to show the inner structures. Photos just below: top photo from the sole side; center photo from the top of cadaver hoof looking down, showing the bones; bottom photo shows the outer hoof capsule. Note that roll!

This view (with the outer wall removed on this half) shows the lamella covered coffin bone, and how it sits inside the hoof capsule. Look at the thickness of the entire hoof wall, and the relief of the outer wall. Note the angle of attachment between the top of the wall and the coronary band.

Note the heel/bar platform, and the roundness of the heels. The weightbearing of the wall is right on the white line/water line junction. The mustang roll creates a complete relief of the outer hoof wall.

The entire wall is fully rounded, heel to toe. There is a definite arch in the quarters. The sole is incredibly thick, just like the wall.
